State of Development

May 13th, 2009

Time for a short update on the development front. iPhone app is coming along nicely, those of you who are waiting: You might have read that Apple sent an email to all developers about 3.0 compatibility. We’re at that point right now. There have been many questions about how the device connectivity will work: iPhone to iPhone card exchanging will support the ‘flick’ gesture, but the app will support connecting with other phones as well through the m/i.mynameise.com method.

A small and funny detail: E recognises your gender now. You have to specify your gender in E/Settings/Account though, before the Trail messages correspond to you being a boy or a girl. No longer will your connections think you’ve undergone drastic surgical procedures.

We’ve had some troubles with the Hyves OAuth connection, but have managed to solve this fast and properly. If you’ve encountered problems, try to share another card and the automatic friending should take place regardless.

The aftermath of the Next ‘09 conference has led to many cool new things coming up. In the meantime, check out the keynote presentation on Empressr, Slideshare or Vimeo.

Last but not least, our Widgets have been a real popular feature since our last update, so we’re making sure they’ll work on all platforms. We’re working hard to get everything ready for you. If you want to support E, please point to your public profile on your social networks, Twitter bios, etc. Oh, and join our Facebook group!

Twitter Integration

October 30th, 2008

We’ve received a couple of remarks that Twitter integration with E wasn’t working from time to time. We just wanted to say that the problem was most likely caused by a change in Twitter’s API. Everything should be working fine again. Stay tuned for more updates.

Problems with the invite and validation emails (solved)

September 25th, 2008

There have been a few reports of people having problems receiving invites and validation on mac.com and me.com email addresses. We will investigate and solve this problem asap. You can always check if the mails are in your spam box, this has happened a few times.

Update:
We had contact with the international spam authority last night. Our server was listed in their spam list because we’re using dynamic IP’s. They now removed us from the list and so far I can see everything works fine now.

The login system

September 24th, 2008

The number of errors we’ve been seeing is fairly low, but one of the most common problems is the login system. This is one of the first things we’ve written when we started developing E and is due for an update. For now you should be fine with retrying a few times. If not, drop us a line through the feedback system  and we’ll have a look at it. I’ll be rewriting the login system the following days (no idea yet on how much work this will be). I’ll write a new post with more information as soon as it’s online.

Update:
The login seems to be working fairly stable now, only cookies are still a problem. This will be solved when we finish our new login system somewhere in the near future.

Twitter problems resolved

September 24th, 2008

We had some problems with the Twitter integration.
The first error warnings about this problem came in this morning.

About two hours ago we resolved the problem.
We just did a few test runs and we can assure you that it works again.
